The Office of the Inspector-General Emergency Management (IGEM) aims to develop and enhance links between emergency management and the many interdependent policy and program platforms that connect stakeholders and enable timely and open communication.
Numerous emergency management reviews highlight the importance of sharing data in emergency situations. The Queensland Government is committed to sharing data. In support of this commitment, between October 2014 and December 2015 the Office of the IGEM worked with cross-sector stakeholders to establish a solution to issues of data sharing during emergency events. The project resulted in a preferred solution to act as a catalyst to stimulate information sharing across the sector.
Emergency management in Queensland still has the potential to go further in establishing interoperability, and data sharing. The Office of the IGEM continues to explore solutions that promote innovation, interoperability, consultation, and knowledge transfer across the emergency management.
