These awards recognise the work of those in the disaster management sector who actively champion change and demonstrate excellence.
The award categories for 2021 are:

- Culture of Learning
- Research and Engagement
Award recipients were announced by the Inspector-General on Tuesday 2 March 2021 and are profiled on the Public Safety Agencies’ International Women’s Day website.

Individual Champion of Change Award Winner

Excellence in Disaster Management:
- Joint Winner - Inspector Rob Graham, Queensland Police Service
- Joint Winner - Senior Sergeant Cameron Barwick, Queensland Police Service
- Highly Commended - Melissa Dower, Ipswich City Council
Culture of Learning:
- Winner - Kath Buchanan, Brisbane City Council
- Highly Commended - Jane Zsombok, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services
- Highly Commended - Phil Maher, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries
Research and Engagement:
- Winner - Sioux Campbell, Cairns Regional Council
- Highly Commended - Faye Gibson, Brisbane City Council
