IGEM International Women's Day 2022 Award Recipients

These awards recognise the work of those in the disaster management sector who actively champion change and demonstrate excellence.

The award categories for 2022 are:

  • Champion of Change – Individual
  • Champion of Change - Organisation
  • Excellence in Disaster Management – Practitioner
  • Excellence in Disaster Management – Research

Award recipients were announced by the Inspector-General on Tuesday 8th March 2022.

The Inspector-General would like to congratulate the following Winners and Highly Commended finalists:

Champion of Change Award Individual

  • Ms Tammy Myles, Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy

Champion of Change Award Organisation

  • Butchulla Aboriginal Corporation

Excellence in Disaster Management – Practitioner

  • Ms Pia Fletcher, Southern Downs Regional Council
  • Ms Josephine Moloney, Weipa Local Disaster Management Group (Highly Commended)

Excellence in Disaster Management - Research

  • Dr Kimberley Reis, Griffith University

We will be profiling the award recipients in an upcoming edition of IGEM Connect. Due to the recent weather and flooding events, the Inspector-General was unable to present the awards to the winners in person before International Women’s Day. The Inspector-General will personally present the awards to the recipients as soon as a suitable time can be arranged.
