Jane Zsombok, Executive Manager, Emergency Management Training, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services
In her role as the Executive Manager Emergency Management Training, Jane Zsombok has been responsible for driving the Queensland Disaster Management Training Framework (QDMTF) from the initial design and development in 2011, through a significant review in 2015 to the most recent 2019-20 refresh.
Jane has championed and led engagement across the sector demonstrated by the refreshed QDMTF Version 6.0 released in February 2020. This release was as a result of a comprehensive engagement process, through the application of two phases of consultation, involving the analysis of 50 stakeholder submissions.
Ensuring a culture of learning and continuous improvement, the refreshed QDMTF continues to support the legislative intent of the Disaster Management Act 2003 and remains relevant, contemporary and is evidenced to meet the requirements of the sector.
Jane has led a client focussed approach, centred on sector consultation and engagement and a collaborative partnership with Emergency Management Coordinators who are critical stakeholders in the success of the QDMTF. The efficacy of the QDMTF is measured by an annual independently administered stakeholder satisfaction and capability enhancement survey, with the 2020 survey results demonstrating 92% overall satisfaction and 94% enhanced capability from participation in QDMTF programs.
Demonstrating excellence through proactive, strategic leadership, in March 2020, Jane led the COVID-19 Disaster Management Training Strategy development and implementation, ensuring a level of continuity in the delivery of QDMTF programs to the sector during the pandemic. This strategy involved the transition of all 36 QDMTF programs to virtual delivery, higher reliance on existing eLearning programs via the Disaster Management Learning Management System; and working in partnership with subject matter experts to transform the Operational Leadership and Crisis Management Masterclass sessions into virtual deliveries.
